Societe Generale will support Poland’s green transition and Polish exporters with KUKE’s guarantees
Societe Generale and KUKE have partnered to support sustainability ambitions of Polish companies for green transformation and to support Polish exporters. The framework agreement was signed in Warsaw by KUKE's CEO Janusz Władyczak and Vice President Katarzyna Kowalska, and by Societe Generale's Krzysztof Dabrowiecki, Chief Country Officer in Poland, and Albina Rosenkranz, Vice President in the Development & Structured Export Finance Department at Societe Generale Frankfurt branch.
KUKE's Green Guarantee Program was announced in September 2024 to mobilize additional sources of financing the net zero transition in Poland. Polish companies can benefit from two types of instruments: investment guarantees, which secure the repayment of loans obtained for climate change mitigation investment projects worth over PLN 10 million, and payment guarantees, which include working capital financing.
Special solutions dedicated to Polish exporters, including repayment guarantees for investment and revolving financing, have been offered by KUKE since 2021 under its Export Support System. Thanks to this, exporters or companies planning overseas expansion have obtained several billion zlotys in credit on attractive terms, facilitating their development.
“Rising geopolitical tensions and an increasingly challenging environment for business underscore the need for acceleration of the climate transition of the Polish economy. This will translate into the country's energy security, and provide local companies with green energy, making it easier for them to remain competitive in international markets. We are pleased that Societe Generale, one of the leading financial groups in Europe, which has extensive experience in financing energy transition projects in France and around the world, is actively involved in the process of transforming the Polish economy towards climate neutrality. Naturally, our joint offer for Polish exporters will help them to overcome growing protectionism in international trade”.
Societe Generale’s partnership with KUKE will expand the product range that can be offered to the bank’s clients in Poland through its global network and expertise in export and project finance.
„Signing of the framework agreement sets an important milestone in cooperation between KUKE and Societe Generale to reach synergies in providing support to Polish companies making significant contributions to mitigating climate change. We want to contribute together with our partners, such as KUKE, to a transition that is both proactive and responsible by supporting our clients and the real economy as they move towards carbon neutrality.”
